The Two Fatalities Identified in Brown University Shooting as Authorities Continue Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s mass shooting on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences on social media, saying in part: “There are no words. Thinking of her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine more persons were wounded in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our city”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on Saturday afternoon, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a law enforcement official informed the media outlet.

Officers that entered the lodging found two firearms and two ammunition clips when the individual was detained, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was released from the hospital, said the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was recognized for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and fellow classmates,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and peers and grieve for of his bright future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the country's seventh most historic university with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 mass shootings reported in the US so far in the current year, according to records.
