Seamer Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Fitness Problems.

'Significant concern' for the touring side after Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the playing area during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

Atkinson felt a problem in his hamstring post-delivery in his spell during the morning session.

The touring camp stated Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and would spend time off the field in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The concluding match of the series in Sydney begins on Sunday, 4 January.

England have already lost key quicks Mark Wood due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain on the current trip.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was left out of the third Test, then recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

The county bowler improved at the MCG, taking two wickets during the host's first knock, before adding 28 as a batsman among just a trio of English batsmen who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over at the end of day one, he returned the next day and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

However, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a change of pace to the batsman and immediately felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed the Adelaide game.
