Mohamed Salah Offers Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the team after the controversy from his televised remarks.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match after making accusations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has previously declined to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “It's clear there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the games following the situation. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and starting to win games.”
