Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police have asked individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
